Turntable Technique: The art of the DJ (Armin Van Buuren)
I found this book totally useless. It's thin, pretty much only talks about scratching, and the little information it contains anyone who is even thinking of learning how to DJ already knows. There is nothing in here to help someone become a DJ. It's pretty much all focussed on scratching and even then misses the mark -
Digital DJ (DJ Styles) (Ultimate Beginner Series DJ Styles Series (Armin Van Buuren)
This book does a very good job of teaching digital dj basics, while giving you a basic concept of traditional djing. Exceptional value for the price. -

The Dj sales and Marketing handbook (Armin Van Buuren)
he others can take a vacation. Stacy Zemon has done it again. This is the best, most readable and easy to follow book on marketing a DJ business (or really any service business) I have ever read. The tips are direct. The aim is to get started at a low cost but bring in the big dollars. Thanks, Stacy, I am following every word. -
The mobile DJ Handbook (Armin Van Buuren)
This handbook leads you step by etep into the world of pro DJ's. Follow every word and you can't miss making your business into the power leader in your area. I worked the pages and now I have quit my job and do this fulltime very successfully. Thanks a billion, Stacey! -
Last Night a DJ Saved my life: History of the Disc Jockey (Armin Van Buuren)
I bought this book specifically for the history of techno and electronica music and was extremely impressed by the depth of coverage this book has on the impact of the DJ on the music scene. The authors do an amazing job of documenting the transition from one genre of music into another and give us a detailed glimpses into the lives and personalities of the DJs that spawned these new genres. In order to understand techno and its origins, I ended up flipping all the way back to the origins of house music in the Chicago night clubs of the 70s. One of the things I really liked about this book is that the authors have the ability to take you to ground zero. Their descriptions of the clubs make you feel like you've been there and their insight into the DJs make you feel like you know them. This book is a great accomplishment for two obviously very talented writers. -
Dj Skills: Essential guide to mixing and scratching (Armin Van Buuren)
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I mean, how can you write a comprehensive book on DJ'ing, Skratching, AND the history of records and recording combined? once I picked up this book and started going through it I realized, Yes, this is it! I LOVE this book! the first really together book on DJing/history/Skratch I know. The original! all the way back to EDISON! ROOTS! Whether you are a dance DJ, Skratch DJ, or are a friend or loved one of someone who is, I would recommend this book to you. Interview with Qbert! and Herbie Hancock! and BT(my hero)! Great for casual reading. You can open it up to any section and find cool stuff. -
DJing for Dummies (Armin Van Buuren)
his is a good book for the beginner DJ that is into scratching, Hip Hop, and Rap. But for those of us that want to play other music you are wasting your money and time with this book. -
How to DJ Right (Armin Van Buuren)
I just recently started taking DJ classes, and this book has been tremendous help. Historically, the barriers to entry have been a bit high in the DJ field, often leaving beginners like myself wondering where to start: what equipment do I need? what are the fundamentals I have to work on? The book fills this gap, providing a comprehensive guide on equipment, techniques, online resources and the general nature of the industry in a very clear format. I've browsed through other books on this subject (a rather limited selection) and none of them come close in terms of breadth and quality.
